I know what youre sayin.  WOW 2 entries in 2 days.  The Apocalypse is just around the corner.  Next I'll be wearing Von Dutch, stop 3 putting and start drinking vodka cranberries or some other foo foo drink like that.

The meaning of this entry is a small update to the Pettition against the no smoking law.  We in the liquor association and Lotto business held a meeting at (of all places) a non smoking bar..  Now to me this was kind of oddd.  Lets hold a meeting about stopping the non-smoking law in a bar which is smoke free.  How ironic is that?  

 Anyhow, getting these signatures is gonna be interesting.  After hearing the do's and donts of how to get signatures and finding out just who is qualified to sign it I realized that in reality there are not too many people who qualify to sign the petition up at Willys at this time.  Not only must you be a registered voter but an "active voter".  What an "active voter" is, is one who has participated (voted) in an election in the past 4 years.  If not they must update their info at the court house before signing.  Same thing goes for unregisteres voters.  The date on their voter registration (on file)must be before their signature date on the petition. So we will have to get people registered and updated before they can sign this thing which will just delay the inevetable for 18 months because all these people we get to sign after they have never voted in their life will not go and vote to dissallow the law.

Well I have 3 petition sheets as of now so if you wish to sign see me (steve) at the bar.  Ill get these 3 filled (90 signatures) and go after more cards.

Some wonderful snow this weekend ruined the week of good golfing.  Got a couple rounds in on thursday and friday and what do we get saturday.  Frakin snow.  Got up at 11am sat and steped outside and it was quite nice.  So i hurried up through the shower and thought of hittin the course real quick b4 opening up the bar.  Oops was i wrong on that thought.  Opened the garage door to find a nice white wall of crap hampering my vision on just seeing my truck in my driveway.  I estimate 6-9 inches in places.  I had 3 inches at my house by 8:30 sat night and there was easily 4-6 more come morning.  And what crappy business we had at the bar due to the snow.

Yes I know its been a long time.  But Willys aint thinking much these days.  Anyhow the winter has come and gone.  The bar has seen another excellent xmas party and Super bowl Party come and go.  Now its time to kick off the ABATE poker runs.  The first one will kick off april 18.  Right now i dont know if its starting at Willys or finishing at Willys.  The delay is due ot our scheduling of the Musivind Pool league tournanment that day.   When The caretakers of the poker run get back to me on it I will post it.  It should not be a problem handling the crowd of pool players and bikers since this early run hapened on the same day last year also.

Smoking Ban

yes its happened.  We all knew sooner or later it would, but if you didnt contact your represanatives/senators in Pierre then you cant complain about it.  I did what I could to keep it from happening.  (with the exception of posting here i guess)  But i kept pretty much everyone at the bar updated on what was happening with the bill from the senate killing the first one,  through the house and senate on the second bill.

But wait, theres one more chance for ..cough, cough, smokers to blow this one.  It looks like a petition is going to go around to get this put to public vote.  I guess its like 16,000 signatures needed.  What would happen then is if the signatures are collected the law would go to vote in the Nov 2010 election.  So ya'll may still be able to "burn one" until at least then.  Since we all know everyone will bitch about it but the only ones who will vote are those in the old folks homes and the precious yuppies who dont go to bars anyhow,  its kind of useless to even try and stop this from becoming a law.  Well at least it wont happen til after the election in 2010 then......

Henry Rollins

Yes him again.  No its not about him coming to Sioux Falls any time soon (which would be great!)  But rather about a TV show he signed on to for its second season.  I know quite a few people from the bar watch it since we have to tune to it for ya when it was on.  After meeting with the writer of the show, Kurt Sutter, Rollins got an offer for and accepted the offer to join the cast of "Sons of Anarchy".  He's not aware of how many episodes as of yet but it should be an interesting caracter.

And Golf season is officially her yesterday.  Went out to Northern Links yesterday and shot a 45 on 9.  Yea, yea I know, me and Tiger Woods.  I think that was alright for the first time out and the 30-40 mph winds.  But once again it was my short game that hurt me.  nothing can kill a birdie faster than 3 putting.  especially when youre on the green in 1.  Had a few of those and also a couple of 10yard chips to waste some strokes.  Im planning to have at least 2 maybe 3 small tournaments this year.  The format will be 2 man best ball.  The one we held last year went good for a first time thing.  Everyone enjoyed themselves.  Will let ya know when the first will be.

Well take it easy and I'll try to get more posts done.  Hopefully one per week, hows that?

Why is it whenever I ask for help at this store I get this look of shock back from them like I just asked them to turn around and let me ram a swordfish up their ass?

Now we all know what POS means, dont we?  Why in the hell would anybody name their product with that acronym?  Yes im talking about our glorious Point Of Sales computer systems/cash registers.  What a friday night it was dealing with these wonderful inventions.  Why do these things only break down on the weekend when its gonna cost the business an arm and a leg to get them fixed.  It seems that they can never break down during "normal business hours".  no that would be too reasonable.  We need the tech working on them from 8pm to 2am on a friday night.  Man he tried everything exceps changing out the rubber gromits on the bottom of the unit and nothing would work.  It would still power on/off by its self.  So he decided to take it to his office and transfer my info onto another system and return.  But before that can happen,to make things worse the backup system dies when he's still working on the main server unit.  Go Fugure!  That one was a little easier to fix.  Just a bad fan, so the unit would overheat and shut down.

Anyhow we got through the night by using the backup system when we could and by writting the items sold down and then reentering them into the system after we got it back.  heck I even dug up one of those old cash registers and used it for a while. 

Did all this fix the problem?  Only time will tell.

oh by the way this is NOT a rant against the tech that came out and worked on the POS.  Its about the POS system itself.  To the tech I say thanks.  To the POS I say its lucky im not a violent man....lol
